Andre Hollins, a 6-foot-2 combo guard who currently plays for White Station High School in Memphis, TN, has committed to the University of Minnesota. Hollins becomes the second commitment for Tubby Smith's 2011 class and fills a big need at the point guard position.

"It just felt right, first of all. Also, having a great coach, great conference play, and a great school were huge factors. The players were really cool and are very talented also."

While Hollins used to spend most of his time as a shooting guard, it appears that is about to change. After the graduation of former star point guard Joe Jackson, Hollins will be making the switch to point guard for White Station High School and now has the chance to show that he is capable of leading the offense for a talented team.

After landing an athletic wing player in Joe Coleman, Minnesota had been targeting a point guard and a shooting specialist to fill out their class. Lucky for Minnesota, Hollins satisfies both needs as he is a prolific shooter from deep and also possesses the intelligence and skill-set to run a team. Both players will be bringing a lot of athleticism to a team that could soon prove to be one of the most athletic teams in the Big Ten.
